Based in Yogyakarta, on the island of Java in Indonesia, We benefit from a stable economic and political situation. The city of Yogyakarta has set as its aim to become a centre of excellence for small and Medium Enterprise and plans are afoot o improve the local infrastructure including the harbour facilities as well as the connections to Semarang harbour on the northen side of Central Java.
Yogyakarta has a cultural tradition of over twelve centuries. The Borobudur, a Bhuddist complex built in the same period in Prambanan is within the city’s boundaries. Both monuments are on the UNESCO Word Heritage list. The cultural traditions of the people who built these monuments continue to live on in the story of the Ramayana Epic and Yogyakarta is reknown for its Ramayana dancers, its traditional wayang shows and the quality of its batik designs and materials, its silver and its woodcraft.
Due to the tradition of woodcraft in the Region we are able to employ craftsmen who are able to put just extra skill and commitment in woodwork products. Our supplies of mahogany and teak come from local farmers in the Central Java area. They plant young trees when children are born in the family and, 20-30 years later, sell the grown trees as their pension provision. Rapi furniture ensures that new trees are planted and encourages a responsible management of our environment amongst farmers and production workers.
